Bike Myakka! for Biodiversity

  • September 25, 2021
  • 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM
  • Myakka River State Park

Celebrate BIKE YOUR PARK DAY and NATIONAL PUBLIC LANDS DAY at Myakka River State Park with a fun, 7-mile service ride.

About this event:

In this fun, and FREE, family-friendly event, in honor of Bike Your Park Day AND National Public Lands Day, we will use our bicycles to help remove litter and invasive plants, which threaten Myakka's biodiversity, and therefore health.

Harnessing pedal power, we will ride through the park, with Park Rangers as our guides. We will enjoy a Wild and Scenic, slow-paced 7-mile roundtrip loop on Myakka's paved Park Drive, while stopping to learn about her rich history, and to remove invasive plants and trash, along the way.

  • This event includes a 30-40 minute service activity.
  • Refreshments will be available.
  • Park admission fees will be waived for all registered - Please only add guests who will be arriving to the park in the same vehicle with you!
  • The first 25 participants to register will receive a free reusable Bike Myakka! water bottle.
  • All Friends of Myakka River members who participate in the event will have the chance to win a private after-hours guided bike ride for 4 with Team Bike Myakka!  A link to our membership page will be included in your confirmation email, or, you can join on the day of the event.

Questions?  Please email BikeMyakka@gmail.com

If you would like to volunteer for an invasive-plant removal session on National Public Lands Day, without biking, please email info@FriendsOfMyakkaRiver.org
