We conserve the river through outreach, restoration, and research.
The Myakka was designated as the state's only "Florida Wild and Scenic River" by the Florida State Legislature in 1985. The act provides for preservation and management of the 34-mile portion of the river within Sarasota County. We aim to protect this area from inappropriate development and use, but we cannot achieve our goals alone. Find out how you can help.
