Myakka’s Volunteer Maintenance Team

Myakka’s Volunteer Maintenance Team

The volunteer dedication at Myakka River State Park is beyond extraordinary. With an annual attendance rate of approximately 400,000 visitors, our buildings and structures receive their share of wear and tear. Fortunately, our amazing volunteer maintenance team is here to help us get through our busy season each year. They do things like replace roofs, build fences, repair gates, install new windows and doors, repair picnic tables, maintain our canopy walkway, maintain boardwalks, fix broken water lines, build barns, paint and much more. Together, the volunteer maintenance team puts in over 125 hours per week, with some individuals working way beyond what they are required. Including the maintenance team, Myakka has around 70 hard-working volunteers per month during the busy season. Myakka volunteers are a passionate, devoted group with a commitment to excellence in everything they do. Their contribution to the park is priceless.
